It is sometimes necessary to view the configuration of Simple Connect devices without using the teach pendant.
The configuration data is stored in a file, Mapping.bin. This file can be exported from the teach pendant by navigating to [Ex Memory] > [Save] > [User Defined Files] > [Mapping.bin]. It can also be found on the USB drive inside the controller cabinet (CN102). Each time changes are made in Simple Connect, a backup of the configuration is stored in the "SimpleConnect \ Backup" folder.
The contents of the Mapping.bin file are not human readable. So, a desktop utility has been created to display the data in a readable form. This utility is located on SharePoint, in the World Jobs Area, alongside the Simple Connect installation files.
Download the OfflineBinFileViewer_vXXX.zip and extract the zip file on your desktop. Then run OfflineBinFileViewer.exe. There is a link at the top to open your Mapping.bin file.
After opening the Mapping.bin file, it will list each of the Simple Connect devices in your work cell. The details of each device can be expanded by clicking the arrow on the left.
NOTE: This utility will only display Simple Connect devices which contain the Turck Ethernet/IP modules. It will not display other Ethernet/IP devices, such as welders, cameras, or grippers.
