Changing ACP01 Board on YRC1000 with SimpleConnect:

  • Updated

If a YRC1000 controller with SimpleConnect experiences a failed ACP01 board there are steps required to resume SimpleConnect operation. There also is some different behavior that can be expected based on the version of the SimpleConnect application.

Background:

When the SimpleConnect network is first established, a "mapping.bin" file are generated that makes a tight correlation between the hardware of the YRC1000 and the various Turck devices. This is done to prevent CMOS file loading between various controllers with differing hardware. What these "mapping.bin" file contain is a MAC addresses of the various hardware (both Turck and the YRC), their IP-addresses, and the their assigned function within SimpleConnect. When an ACP01 board is replaced, the MAC address of the new ACP01 does not match what was stored in the BIN file (which was the old ACP01's MAC address) and that mismatch in MAC addresses triggers bootup alarms.

Alarm 8990 [17]: Open [Setup] > [SimpleConnect]:

The above highlighted alarm (8990) will occur following a replacement of the ACP01 board because the MAC address of the new ACP01 doesn't match the MAC address stored in the "mapping.bin" file.

Resolving Alarm 8990[17] alarms: SimpleConnect app version 2.0 & above, see lower right of screen below for version

To address the 8990 alarm following an ACP01 board replacement, you'll first want to "RESET" the alarm shown above and open/launch the "SimpleConnect" application where you'll be greeted by pop-up below and all of your devices will show "Offline".

  1. The message above indicates that if you've replaced the ACP01 board to choose "No" which will then update the "mapping.bin" file to contain the new MAC address of the new ACP01 board.
  2. After pressing "No" and the pop-up clears, you'll then need to press "Return to Pendant" without making any other changes. This saves the new "mapping.bin" then you'll be prompted to reboot the controller.
  3. Following the reboot, the controller will access the newly save "mapping.bin" file which will have the new MAC address for the new ACP01 board and devices should come "Online" and the 8990 alarm should be resolved
